Bakery software
Bakery management software for home and small bakeries
Farinu is bakery management software built for home and micro bakers: it costs every recipe down to the box and the oven time, suggests a price from your target markup, and keeps your custom orders, sales, production and stock in one place, with a monthly P&L at the end. You can start free, costing up to 10 recipes, with no card.
What bakery management software should do for a small bakery
Most bakery software is written for shops with a counter, a till and staff on shifts. A home or micro bakery has different problems: prices set by guesswork, orders arriving by message, deposits tracked on paper, and no clear idea of what last month actually earned.
Farinu starts where the money is decided, with the recipe, and builds outward from there to orders, sales and stock. It is not a point of sale and does not try to be one.
- Know the real cost of every product, including labour, packaging and overhead
- Price with a target markup instead of copying the bakery down the road
- Take custom orders with deposits and know what each customer still owes
- See profit and loss per month without a spreadsheet

Recipe costing that counts everything
Each recipe in Farinu adds up ingredients, packaging, sub-recipes such as a buttercream or a sponge you reuse, your labour by the hour, machine time and a share of fixed overhead like rent or electricity. Change the price of butter once and every recipe that uses it updates.
Example: a 6-inch celebration cake with 9.80 USD of ingredients, 1.60 USD of box and board, 1.5 hours of labour at 18 USD an hour (27.00 USD), 0.90 USD of oven time and 2.20 USD of overhead costs 41.50 USD to make. Priced at 45 USD it looks fine; the margin is under 8 percent.

Suggested prices, price lists and margin alerts
Set a target markup and Farinu suggests the price, rounded to the step you choose. With a 40 percent markup, the cake above should sell for about 58 USD (41.50 x 1.40 = 58.10). You can keep separate price lists, for example retail and wholesale to a café, each with its own prices for the same product.
When you record a higher price for an ingredient, Farinu raises a margin alert on every product that now sells below its target, with the price to charge instead, so you see the problem before a month of sales at the old price.

Custom orders, customers and deposits
Keep each customer with their WhatsApp number and order history. A custom order moves from draft to confirmed, deposit paid, in production and ready, and records the deposit and the balance payment, so you know at a glance who still owes what before pickup.
Example: a 120 USD order with a 40 USD deposit shows 80 USD outstanding until the balance is recorded.

Sales, production, stock and a monthly P&L
Log what you sold at a market or from your door, plan what to bake, and record each production batch. Purchases add to stock and production takes ingredients out of it, so you can see what you have on hand before you shop.
At the end of the month, Farinu turns sales, order payments and costs into a profit and loss statement, so you know what the business earned, not just what came in.

An AI assistant and an MCP server
Getting started is usually the hard part. On the Team plan, the built-in assistant imports recipes from a photo of your notebook or from a spreadsheet, so you do not retype them. If you already use Claude or ChatGPT, the Farinu MCP server lets them read your costs, orders and sales and propose changes that you approve in Farinu.

Owners and helpers
On the Team plan, invite a helper to log sales, production and orders. Helpers never see costs or margins; only the owner does. That keeps your pricing private when a friend or family member helps on market day.
How Farinu compares with POS and bakery ERP software
A point of sale is built to ring up sales at a counter. A bakery ERP is built for wholesale production, routes and many staff, and often comes with setup fees and a sales call. Farinu sits between them: it answers what a product costs, what to charge and what you earned, at the scale of one kitchen.
If you sell mostly through a shop till, keep your POS and use Farinu for costing and orders. If you are a home or micro baker, Farinu may be all the software you need.
Questions
- Is Farinu free?
- The free plan includes recipe costing for up to 10 recipes. For more recipes, see the Team plan on the pricing page.
- Is Farinu a point of sale?
- No. Farinu costs recipes and runs orders, sales records, production and stock. It does not take card payments at a counter, so a bakery with a shop can use it alongside its POS.
- Does it work for a home bakery?
- Yes, home and micro bakers are who Farinu is built for: one kitchen, custom orders, markets and a few wholesale customers.
- Do I have to type all my recipes in?
- No. On the Team plan, the AI assistant can import recipes from a photo or a spreadsheet, and you review them before they are saved.
