Software for home bakers

Turn your home baking into a business that pays

You bake for friends, markets and a growing list of customers. Farinu shows what each bake really earns and keeps your orders straight.

Get started

Recipe costing is free for up to 10 recipes, and orders for up to 50 a month. Sales, the monthly report and unlimited orders come with the Team plan.

What gets in your way

  • Charging too little

You count flour and eggs but not your time, gas or boxes, so the price feels fair and pays nothing.

  • Orders on scraps of paper

Orders arrive by message, at the market and at the school gate. Remembering them is a second job.

  • Hobby or business?

Without a monthly number you can't tell whether to grow, raise prices or stop.

How Farinu helps

  • Recipe costing to the gram

Add ingredients and packaging once. Every recipe shows its cost per batch and per piece, fixed costs included.

  • Customers and orders

Take custom orders with deposits and follow each one from confirmed to delivered and paid.

  • Sales and monthly profit

Log the day's sales from the counter. Sales, orders, ingredients and fixed costs meet in one monthly report.

What a dozen cupcakes really costs

Most home bakers price from the ingredients. Here is the same dozen with everything counted.

Ingredients for 12 cupcakes
$6.30
Cases and a box
$1.50
Your time: 1.5 hours at $15 an hour
$22.50
Oven gas and a share of fixed costs
$1.80
Cost of the dozen
$32.10

Charge $30 a dozen and you lose $2.10 every time. With a 40% markup, Farinu suggests $44.94, or $45.00 rounded to a 50-cent step.

Questions

Is it too much for a one-person bakery?
No. Start by costing a few recipes on your own, and add orders and sales when you need them.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Farinu runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer.
Should I count my own time?
Yes. Add your time to each recipe at an hourly rate, so the price pays you as well as the ingredients.
Do I need a licence to sell from home?
It depends on where you live. Our cottage food law pages sum up the rules by US state, and for Spain and Latin America. Farinu does the numbers, not the permits.
