Free bakery calculators and tools
These free bakery calculators answer the questions home bakers ask all the time: what a recipe really costs, what to charge for a cake or a dozen cookies, what margin a price leaves you, and how much a bigger batch will cost. Each tool shows the formula step by step with a worked example, so you can run your own numbers on paper or in a spreadsheet, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
Which bakery calculator to start with
If you are setting prices for the first time, start with the recipe cost calculator: every other number depends on knowing what one batch costs you in ingredients and packaging. Then use the cake or cookie pricing calculator to turn that cost into a price, and the margin calculator to check what that price leaves you after costs.
For example, if a batch of 24 cookies costs 9.60 dollars in ingredients and packaging, each cookie costs 0.40 dollars. Selling them at 1.50 dollars each leaves a margin of about 73 percent before your time and overhead.
- Pricing: cake pricing, cookie pricing, and margin and selling price.
- Costing: recipe cost, food cost, and recipe scaling with batch cost.
- Baking: baker's percentages for bread and sourdough, and cake servings by pan size.
- Starting out: bakery startup costs, name ideas, and nutrition labels.
When a calculator is no longer enough
A calculator answers one question once. When you sell every week, ingredient prices change, and a cake that was well priced in spring can lose its margin by autumn. Farinu is an app for home and micro bakers that keeps those numbers current: it costs each recipe from ingredients, packaging, sub-recipes, labour, machines and overhead, suggests a price from the markup you want, and alerts you when an ingredient price rise leaves a product selling below that markup.
It also keeps your customers, custom orders with deposits, sales and a monthly profit and loss in one place. The free plan covers recipe costing for up to 10 recipes and up to 50 orders a month; Team adds unlimited recipes and orders, sales and the rest.
