Bakery invoices and receipts, straight from your Farinu orders (planned)
A bakery invoice lists who ordered, what they ordered, the unit price and total, the deposit already paid and the balance due by delivery day. Making one from an order in Farinu in a tap is planned, not live yet. You can already keep every custom order, deposit and balance in Farinu, free for up to 50 orders a month, and copy those numbers into our free bakery invoice template.
Deposit receipt or invoice: what the customer needs to see
A receipt is usually given after money changes hands; an invoice asks for money still owed. For custom cakes you often need both: a receipt for the deposit when the order is booked, and an invoice or final receipt for the balance at pickup.
Either way the customer wants the same few facts on one page. The free bakery invoice template has a column for each.
- Who ordered and how to reach them
- Each item with quantity, unit price and line total
- Deposit received and balance due, with their dates
- What was agreed, such as flavors, allergens or design

A worked deposit receipt example
Here is an example custom order, with made-up numbers, to show how the lines add up. A customer books a two-tier birthday cake and two dozen cupcakes for a party.
The deposit receipt shows the same lines and total with a balance of $132. On delivery day the final receipt shows both payments and a balance of $0. That simple trail is what prevents the classic dispute over whether the deposit was already paid.
| Line | Qty | Unit price | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two-tier vanilla cake, serves 30 | 1 | $180.00 | $180.00 |
| Chocolate cupcakes | 24 | $3.50 | $84.00 |
| Order total | - | - | $264.00 |
| Deposit paid at booking (50%) | - | - | -$132.00 |
| Balance due at pickup | - | - | $132.00 |
What you can do in Farinu today
Farinu does not print invoices yet, but on the Team plan the numbers that go on one already live there, so you never have to work them out again on the day.
Until the feature ships, open the order, copy its lines, total, deposit and balance into the free template, and send it as a PDF or a photo. It takes a couple of minutes and the numbers match what Farinu already tracks.
- Customers with an optional WhatsApp number, so you know exactly who ordered
- Custom orders with a delivery date and lines priced from your retail or wholesale price list
- Deposits and balance payments recorded against each order, with the balance always visible
- A one-tap WhatsApp reminder with the balance due on a delivered order that is not yet fully paid
- Paid orders turn into sales automatically, so your monthly profit and loss stays right
What invoices in Farinu will do
The plan is to turn any order into a clean receipt or invoice without retyping anything: the lines, prices, deposit and balance come straight from the order you already have.
We intend to let you send it over WhatsApp or download it, issue a deposit receipt when the order is booked and a final one when it is paid, and show your bakery name on every document. Details may change before it ships, and we will only describe it as working once it does.
Receipts, invoices and taxes
A receipt from Farinu will be a clear record for you and your customer, not tax advice. In the United States, whether you must charge sales tax on baked goods, and what your paperwork must show, depends on your state and sometimes your city, so check with your state revenue department.
If you sell in a country with official electronic invoicing, such as Mexico, where invoices are CFDI issued through the tax authority (SAT), a simple receipt does not replace them; use the official system your tax authority requires.
Questions
- Can Farinu send bakery invoices today?
- Not yet. Invoices and receipts are planned. Today Farinu records each order, its deposit and its balance on every plan, and you can copy those into our free template.
- Is there a free bakery receipt template?
- Yes. Our free bakery invoice template has the columns a bakery needs: item, quantity, unit price, total, deposit and balance. Download it and fill it from your order.
- What is the difference between a cake receipt and an invoice?
- A receipt confirms money you received, such as a deposit. An invoice asks for money still owed, such as the balance due at pickup. Custom orders often need both.
- Will invoices be on the free plan?
- We have not decided which plan will include them. The free plan covers costing for up to 10 recipes and up to 50 orders a month; Team removes both limits.
