How to make a bakery website: five blocks and a free storefront

To make a bakery website that brings in orders, you need only five blocks: what you bake, what it costs, how to order, when and where to collect, and how to reach you. Home bakers rarely lose orders for lack of a pretty site; more often it is because prices are out of date and order requests arrive scattered across messages. Farinu builds a storefront page with those five blocks from data you already keep: your products and prices, the next days you can bake each one, your address, opening days and WhatsApp, and a button to order for pickup. This page gives you the five blocks with example copy, for the storefront or any website builder.

The problem with most bakery websites

A website builder makes it easy to publish a nice page in an afternoon. The trouble starts a month later. Butter goes up, you change the price of your sourdough, and the site still shows the old one. A customer orders at the old price and you either eat the difference or have an awkward conversation.

The second problem is orders. A contact form sends an email, a customer also writes on WhatsApp, another one comments on a post. Nothing lands in one place, nobody asks for a deposit, and the Saturday list lives in your head.

Whatever you publish on, keep the site to these blocks. A one-page site with all five usually beats a ten-page site that is never updated.

Write your menu from real prices, not from guesses. If a price on the site does not cover your ingredients, packaging, time and overhead, the website only helps you lose money faster.

Getting the menu prices right before you publish

This is where Farinu helps first. Cost each recipe with its ingredients, packaging, sub-recipes, labour, machine time and overhead, set a target markup or a target price, and Farinu suggests a price. Put those prices in a retail price list and, if you sell to cafés, a wholesale one.

Example: a 900 g sourdough loaf costs $2.10 in ingredients, $0.40 in packaging, $1.50 in labour and $0.60 in oven time and overhead, so $4.60 in total. At a 100% markup over cost the suggested price is $9.20, and you might round it to $9 on the site. If flour goes up later, a margin alert tells you which products fell below target, so you know which prices to change.

What the Farinu storefront shows

The storefront is a public page for your bakery, built from what you keep in Farinu, so there is nothing extra to maintain. It loads fast on a phone, can be browsed without JavaScript (ordering needs it), and carries the title, description, sharing preview and schema.org Bakery data that search engines and chat apps read.

Turn it on in the settings, add a tagline, your pickup address, your hours and your WhatsApp number, and a short description and one photo for each product if you like.

Free storefront and paid extras

The free plan includes a basic storefront in the classic theme, with a small Made with Farinu link at the bottom. The Team plan adds what makes it look like your own site.

Bakery website builder or storefront: which do you need?

If you want a full brand site with a blog and galleries, a general bakery website builder is the right tool, and you can link its Order button to your Farinu shop and keep using Farinu behind it for costing and orders.

If what you really need is an always-correct menu and a clean way to take orders, the storefront is built for exactly that, and it costs nothing to start. You can use both: a builder for the brand, the storefront for the menu and order requests.

Questions

Can I build my bakery website in Farinu?
Yes. Turn on the storefront in the settings and Farinu builds the page from your products, prices, availability and contact details. You can also keep any website builder and link its Order button to your Farinu shop.
What should a bakery website include?
A menu with prices, how to order with lead time and deposit, collection or delivery details, an about and allergen note, and a contact channel such as WhatsApp.
Does the storefront cost extra?
No. The free plan includes a basic storefront that takes orders, and the order calendar, with up to 50 orders a month and costing for up to 10 recipes. Team removes the order limit and adds storefront themes, a banner and your own domain, without the Farinu footer.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, on Team. Enter your domain in the online shop settings, add the two records Farinu shows there, a CNAME and a TXT, at your domain provider, then check them from the same screen. Once both are found, the screen shows whether the domain is live or still waiting for setup on our side.
